BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Patyon Boler scored both of the Bryn Athyn College field hockey team's goals in a 4-2 Senior Day loss to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Morrisville State Friday night on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
Morrisville State (5-10, 4-0 NEAC) needed just 4:22 to get on the board when Hayley Fonfara located a loose ball during a scrum in front of the Bryn Athyn net. The Mustangs doubled the advantage at 14:04 on a Brianna Fischetti goal. Fischetti scored the goal after a Lion keeper Macey Mitchell left a rebound on a Lauren Kellum shot.
Boler got the Lions back into the match just over five minutes later. She broke free the Mustang defense and made a run along the right end line. Boler unleashed a shot that beat Joelle Freiermuth to the short side to make the score 2-1.
The Mustangs struck quickly at the start of the second half, scoring just 1:42 in, to regain a two-goal advantage. Haley Evarts was standing at the top of the arc and found a wide-open Elizabeth Leva at the left post, giving Leva an easy tap-in.
Evarts increased the margin to 4-1 when she slammed home the rebound left on a Fischetti shot at the 60:15 mark.
The Lions were awarded a penalty stroke with 5:32 left in the match when a Mustang player tripped a Lion attacker inside the arc. Boler took the stroke, banking it off of the left post and into the net for her 11th goal of the season. Boler is now tied with Leva for the conference lead in scoring.
Mitchell finished the match with 21 saves for Bryn Athyn. It was her second 20+-save performance of the year. Freiermuth stopped one shot to get the win.
Bryn Athyn (2-11, 0-4 NEAC) will close out its inaugural season with a non-conference match at Arcadia on Monday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.
