ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team was selected sixth in the 2018-19 Colonial States Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll that the conference office unveiled on Tuesday.
The Lions bring back seven players from last season's 2017-18 squad, led by All-North Eastern Athletic Conference third team selection Rahim Washington, that was 9-16 overall.
Washington had a record-breaking season in 2017-18, setting program records for points per game (18.5), points scored (462), made field goals (159), made free throws (93), and steals (51). In the NEAC, Washington was ranked second in points, third in points per game, fourth in made field goals, fifth in steals, sixth in made free throws, seventh in assists (85), and 12th in made 3-pointers (51).
Lamarr Crenshaw was second on the team in scoring with 15.1 points per game and was the Lions' top rebounder with 6.2 rebounds per game. He was the NEAC's eighth-best shooter at 52.7 percent. Larry Stevenson III contributed 9.3 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, a team-high 52 made 3-pointers, and 41 steals.
In the preseason poll, the Lions garnered 18 points.
Rosemont picked up 45 points and four of the seven available first-place votes to top the poll. Cairn was close behind in second place with 40 points and the other three first-place votes. Wilson took the third position with 34 points, while Keystone's 28 points placed the Giants in fourth. Centenary (N.J.) was fifth with 21 points. Clarks Summit rounded out the poll with 10 points.
Bryn Athyn will face Division I Drexel University in an exhibition contest on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. The Lions open the 2018-19 season at Lebanon Valley College on Friday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m.
