GLENSIDE, Pa. – Larry Stevenson III and Rahim Washington both scored in double figures for the Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team in a 90-47 non-conference loss to Arcadia University in Alumni Gymnasium Wednesday night.
Stevenson III was Bryn Athyn's top scorer as he shot 5-of-10 from the field, 4-of-9 from behind the 3-point arc, to finish with 15 points. Washington racked up 11 points and a team- and season-high 10 rebounds to post his first double-double of the season.
The Lions and Knights went back and forth trading the lead five times during the opening 7:16 of the contest. Bryn Athyn (3-10) took what would be its final lead of the game when Dante Lanzetta knocked down a 3-pointer at the 13:01 mark to make the score 12-10. After Arcadia (10-2) went ahead 13-12, Tariq Moore went 1-for-2 at the free throw line to level the game at 13 with 12:32 remaining.
Then, Arcadia would control by outscoring Bryn Athyn 32-8 over the duration of the half to lead 45-21 after 20 minutes of play. During the big run, Bryn Athyn shot 2-of-15 from the field and committed nine turnovers, while Arcadia was 10-of-22 shooting.
The Knights kept up their strong shooting in the second half as Arcadia made half of its attempts (15-of-30), including 41.7 percent (5-of-12) of its 3-pointers. Bryn Athyn connected on 33.3 percent (9-of-27) of its shots in the final 20 minutes, 3-of-9 on 3-point attempts.
Arcadia had four players hit double figures in scoring, led by 17 points from Da'Kquan Davis. Josh Scott added 11 points, while Evan Stone and Steve Pendleton both contributed 10 points.
Bryn Athyn returns to Asplundh Field House to face Clarks Summit University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 3 p.m.
