Men's golf falls to New Jersey City in season-opening event

KENILWORTH, N.J. – Anthony Astorino finished in second place to lead the Bryn Athyn College men's golf team in a loss to host New Jersey City University, 340-380, in a season-opening dual match at Galloping Hill Golf Course on Monday afternoon.

Astorino birdied the par-four 10th hole and par-four 16th hole and had seven pars on his way to the runner-up score of 81 (+10), one shot behind winner Daniel Natoli.

Cody Smith recorded five scores of par during his round of 90 (+19) to end the day in ninth place. Connor Devereux and James Lockameyir completed Bryn Athyn's team scored as they carded rounds of 96 (+25) and 97 (+26), respectively. Devereux was 11th while Lockameyir took 12th place.

Tim Browne and Cullen McNally finished up in a tie for 13th place as they each turned in a scorecard of 102 (+31).

Bryn Athyn's next event is the Ursinus Invitational at Raven's Claw Golf Club on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
