Lions end weekend trip to New York with loss to Nazareth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team capped off its weekend in New York with a 4-2 loss to host Nazareth College Saturday afternoon in Bill Gray's Iceplex.

Trailing 1-0 going into the second period, Bryn Athyn (1-5-0) scored two power-play goals 1:45 apart to storm ahead 2-1 at the 4:55 mark of the period.

Alec Grollman got the Lions on the board at 3:10 with his first goal of the 2018-19 season. Tanner Condgon picked up an assist on the game-tying goal. Then, it was Congdon scoring for the first time this year, with assists from Devon Becker and Grollman, to give the Lions a 2-1 advantage.

The lead would be short-lived as the host Golden Flyers (3-0-3) came back with a James McDonald goal at the 5:37 mark that would tie the score at two. Nazareth would lead 3-2 after two thanks to a David Powlowski goal, his second of the afternoon, at 10:57.

Justin Miller iced the victory for Nazareth with an insurance goal with 1:18 left in the contest.

Powlowski opened the scoring on the man-advantage at the 6:37 mark of the first period.

Andy Lee made 20 saves for Nazareth, while McKenzie Chalmers recorded 24 saves in the loss for Bryn Athyn.

The Lions went 2-for-7 on the power play and the Golden Flyers went 1-for-6.

Bryn Athyn has a week off before visiting King's (Pa.) on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.
