SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Freshman center Brian Lange scored his first collegiate goal in his Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey debut as the Lions fell to No. 6/9 Salve Regina in the opening round of the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational Saturday afternoon in the Saratoga City Rink.
Lange's debut goal came at the 17:52 mark of the second period on his first collegiate shot after receiving a pass from Dakota Ulmer. The goal made the score 3-1 in favor of the Seahawks.
Salve Regina (5-1-1) recorded the only goal of the first period on an Eric Lipa shot with 4:39 left in the period. The Seahawks tacked on two more goals in the opening 11:26 of the second to extend their gap to 3-0. Kyle Moore tallied the first goal at 4:06 and Nick Cyr added a power-play goal at 11:26.
Danny Eruzione scored the afternoon's final goal with 21 seconds remaining in the second period.
McKenzie Chalmers stopped 32 shots in the loss for the Lions (2-6-0). Salve Regina's Blake Wojtala recorded 31 saves.
The Seahawks were 1-for-2 on the power play, while the Lions went 0-for-4.
Bryn Athyn returns to action in the consolation game of the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational against Post University on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 1 p.m.
