AUBURN, Mass. – Tanner Congdon scored a pair of goals for the Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team as the Lions were unable to overcome a pair of four-goal deficits in a 5-3 loss to Anna Maria Friday afternoon.
After a fairly quiet start by both offenses, Anna Maria (4-7-3) struck twice on consecutive shots on goal to open up a 2-0 advantage at the 16:21 mark of the opening period. Peter Dziegas put the Amcats on the board after putting home a rebound of a blocked shot on the power play at 14:08 and Aleksandr Makarov scored 2:23 later for the second goal.
Anna Maria widen the goal to four when Quinn Tucker found the back of the net at 6:50 on the second period and Kevin Kaufmann scored six minutes later.
Alec Grollman put the Lions (4-8-0) on the board with a power play goal at 15:58 with assists from Eric Higgins and Devon Becker. Grollman now leads Bryn Athyn with five goals after scoring in his third straight game.
Anna Maria reclaimed its four-game advantage on a Drew Goupille short-handed goal with 1:53 left in the second period.
Congdon got the third period off to a fast start for the Lions as he scored Bryn Athyn's second power-play goal just 32 seconds into the third period to draw the team back within three. Higgins and Vojtech Luza both picked up an assist on the play. Congdon scored for the second time in the game—third time this season—with 23 seconds left in the contest.
The Lions peppered Amcat netminder Brendan Boncore throughout the contest, registering 38 shots on goal. Boncore was able to stop 35 of those shots. Bryn Athyn goaltender McKenzie Chalmers recorded 16 saves on 21 shots.

Bryn Athyn heads to New York to take on Morrisville State on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
