MILTON, Mass. – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team got off to a fast start with two first period goals, but couldn't make them hold up and fell to Curry College 6-2 Saturday afternoon in the Ulin Memorial Rink.
Tanner Congdon scored the game's opening goal at the 14:07 mark with an unassisted even-strength goal to give the Lions (4-13-0) a 1-0 advantage. Tanner Schroeder doubled the advantage with just 52 seconds remaining in the period. Vojtech Luza and Zach Pamaylaon both earned an assist on the play.
The goals were Congdon's sixth and Luza's fourth of the 2018-19 season.
The game flipped in Curry's favor in the second period as the Colonels (8-5-2) for five goals on 10 shots.
Zachary White leveled the game up at two with back-to-back goals in the first 6:57 of the period. The first goal came at 4:07 on the power play with assists from Mack Heisinger and Billy Vizzo. White struck again 2:50 later by scoring an even-strength goal that was assisted by Lionel Mauron.
After Kalle Sundell put the Colonels in front at 10:48, Vizzo tacked on a pair of goals at 12:06 and 14:46 to increase the advantage to 5-2.
Viktor Jansson provided Curry's sixth goal at 18:45 as he scored into an empty net.
White finished the game with four points (two goals, two assists), while Heisinger added two assists.
McKenzie Chalmers recorded 28 saves on 33 stops for the Lions. Cody Murch started in goal for Curry, but was yanked after allowing two goals on seven shots. Justin Ketola played the final 40 minutes and stopped all 13 shots he faced to earn the win.
Curry went 1-for-1 on the power play, while Bryn Athyn was 0-for-7.
