Men's Lacrosse Picks Up First Varsity Program Win Against PSU-Abington

Bryn Athyn, Pa – The Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team won their first varsity game against cross-town rival PSU-Abington 18-4 in Thursday afternoon action.

Dana Ayers led the Lions with four goals and two assists. Christian Blair and Daniel Triesler scored three goals apiece.

23 seconds into the game, Blair scored the first goal of the program. Triesler scored four minutes later to give Bryn Athyn a two goal lead. The Nittany Lions answered with two quick goals to tie the game at 2-2.

Bryn Athyn scored five goals in the first period to take a 6-2 lead.

In the second period, Bryn Athyn scored four goals and kept the Nittany Lions scoreless. Bryn Athyn goals came from Ayers, Josh Cook, Terrence Johnson and Graham Lermitte.

In the second half, Bryn Athyn didn't let down the offensive pressure and kept the Nittany Lions scoreless in the third period. Blair scored two goals in the third period, Joshua Cole and Ayers also tallied goals. 

Bryn Athyn scored four goals in the fourth period, before the Nittany Lions got on the board again. PSU-Abington scored two late goals in the fourth period, but wasn't enough to chip away at Bryn Athyn's lead.

Matt Bartalini, Robert Moran and Nelson Lopez saw time in goal for the Lions.

Bryn Athyn outshot PSU-Abington 53-17. The Lions picked up 57 ground balls while the Nittany Lions recorded 22.

The Lions travel to Hood College on Saturday afternoon. The game is slated for 1:00 pm.
