Men's Lacrosse Picks Up First Win Against Houghton, 17-12

Bryn Athyn, Pa. - The Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team picked up their first win against Houghton College, 17-12 in Saturday afternoon action.

Luke Frazier led the Lions with with five goals and five assists. Kieran Ragan put up seven goals, four ground balls and one assist. Eric Cranch led the defense with 11 ground balls. 

The Highlanders jumped to a quick two goal lead, before Frazier got the Lions on the board, four minutes into the first period. Houghton scored four unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead. Ragan ended the first period with a goal to chip away at the Highlanders 6-2 lead. 

Bryn Athyn started with the second period with a three goals to bring the Lions within one goal. The Highlanders scored with 9:46 left in the period to extend their lead to 7-5. Frazier scored two back to back goals to tie the game at 7-7 all. Nick Fetko scored with 5:16 in the second period, to give the Lions the game winning goal.

Fetko started the scoring for the Lions in the third period to extend the Bryn Athyn lead 9-7. The Highlanders responded with their own goal with 10:59 left on the clock. Colin Rogers scored 50 seconds later to keep the Lion two goal lead. Ragan scored with 5:33 on the clock to extend the Bryn Athyn lead to three goals. Houghton scored two back to back goals to bring the Highlanders within one. The Lions ended the period with a goal at 35 seconds to keep a 12-10 lead. 

The Lions outscored the Highlanders 5-2 in the fourth to take home their first win of the season on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Ragan led the Lions with three goals in the fourth. 

Robert Moran made 14 saves in net and picked up eight ground balls. 

The Lions head on the road next Tuesday to face Arcadia at 7:00 pm.
