Lions notch big win over Wells on Senior Day

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's lacrosse team is back at the .500 mark after defeating Wells College 20-5 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) match for its fourth straight victory on Senior Day Saturday on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.

Before the opening faceoff, the Lions (6-6, 5-1 NEAC) honored six seniors who were playing in their final regular season home match: Andrew Coyle, Jon Carr, Mark Strange, Nolan Frame, Connor Buick, and Alex Hyatt.

Bryn Athyn controlled the match from the start as the Lions jumped out to a 7-0 lead during the opening 12:10. Frame led the surge with three of his match-high five goals, while Carr tallied two of his four goals. Andrew Coyle and Nolan Bosserman also scored during the surge.

The Lions, leading 7-1 after one, scored four more times at the beginning of the second to push the gap to 11-1. Cameron Leech had two goals, while Dakota Ulmer and Frame had the others.

After Wells (4-8, 2-5 NEAC) pulled one back, Frame, Buick, and Carr all scored in the final 4:42 to give Bryn Athyn a 14-2 halftime lead.

Four different Lions scored for Bryn Athyn in the third quarter as the team pushed its advantage to 18-3 after 45 minutes of play. Carr, Coyle, Bosserman, and Ulmer had the Lion goals. Miles Jackson scored his second goal of the season to cap off a 2-2 final quarter.

Coyle (three goals, five assists) and Leech (two goals, six assists) both had eight points for the Lions. Frame tacked on an assist to end up with six points. Carr also had one assist as part of a four-point afternoon.

The Lions went 18-of-29 on faceoffs as Dan Condon was 10-of-17 and Shane McCurdy was 8-of-12.

Aaron Heisey paced the Express with a hat-trick.

Brad DePasquale earned the win in the Lions' net with seven saves in 41:07. Cullen McNally closed out the game and made five stops. Wells' Zack Simone stopped 10 shots.

The Lions owned a 46-29 shot advantage.

Bryn Athyn begins the final week of the regular season with a trip to Keuka on Wednesday, April 25 at 4 p.m.
