Lions tripped up by University of New England

BRYN ATHYN, Pa.  – The University of New England Nor'Easters scored nine goals in the opening quarter on their way to a 25-12 win over Bryn Athyn in men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.

For Bryn Athyn (1-3), sophomore attack James Vandegrift (Jenkintown, Pa./Academy of the New Church) had five goals on 11 shots with one assist, while senior midfielder Cameron Leech (Abington, Pa./Abington) had four goals and five assists on the afternoon. Leech also picked up five ground balls with junior goalie Brad DePasquale (Baltimore, Md./Dundalk) netting four.

Senior midfielder Shane McCurdy (Bryn Athyn, Pa./ANC Boys School) led the way with seven ground balls for the Lions, who got 12 saves from DePasquale.

For UNE, Alex Zadworny had five goals and three assists, with Mitch Mullin and Jason Erwin each scoring four.

Bryn Athyn will travel to Lebanon Valley on Wednesday.
