Second half surge propels men's soccer to 4-1 win at Clarks Summit

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's soccer team scored three times in the second half to pull away from host Clarks Summit and earn a 4-1 road victory on Saturday afternoon.

With the match tied at one at the half, Jacob Elder (Rochester, Mich./Stoney Creek) needed just 1:49 to put the Lions (2-0) in the lead. Elder broke free from his defender and knocked home a crossing pass for his second goal of the season.

David Camara (Man, Ivory Coast/Roxborough) provided both of the insurance goals that would put the match out of reach.

His first goal of the day was at the 78:23 mark. Kevin Conroy (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) fed Camara with a through ball, allowing Camara to go one-on-one with keeper Evan Rarick. Rarick charged off his line to attempt to cut down Camara's space, but Camara chipped the ball over him and into the net.

Camara's second goal came with 1:21 left in the match as he received a pass at the penalty spot and simply tapped the ball past Rarick. The goal gives Camara the team lead in goals with three.

Bryn Athyn took a 1-0 lead on Pete Comas' (Rockledge, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) second goal of the season at the 37:02 mark. Comas—who entered the match three minutes earlier—was left unmarked when Camara played the ball into the box from the endline. This gave Comas an easy tap-in for the match's first goal.

Clarks Summit (3-2) got the equalizer with 2:26 left before halftime when Nathan Hubbard scored on a free kick from just outside the penalty area.

Quentin Hager (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) gave Bryn Athyn a solid performance in goal as he stopped a career-high eight shots to earn the victory. Rarick had five saves for Clarks Summitt.

Bryn Athyn now has a week off before facing Penn State Brandywine under the lights in a non-conference clash on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
