Men's soccer falls to Morrisville State 4-2

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Bryn Athyn College men's soccer team suffered a 4-2 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) loss to Morrisville State Sunday afternoon on Drake Field.

Trailing 1-0 on a Kossi Philippe Nodjo goal, Matheus Souza drew Bryn Athyn level at the 21:41 mark, taking advantage error by the Morrisville State defense. Alex Medina lifted a pass to the edge of the penalty area, where Mustang back Julian Correa mishit his clearing attempt and backed into keeper Cody Welkley. The misplay gave Souza an easy tap-in for his first goal of the year.

Morrisville State (4-7-0, 3-2-0 NEAC) responded with two goals before the halftime buzzer to lead 3-1 at the break. Stephen Oduro put the Mustangs back in front at the 33:52 mark as he volleyed a sliced clearance attempt by Martin Dempster from 17 yards out into the lower left corner of the goal. Julian Correa doubled the advantage 1:24 later with a header of a Griffen MacWatters cross.

Marco Delcid scored the Mustangs' fourth goal at the 64:02 mark, one-timing a Julian Rodriguez through ball.

Edgar Rodriguez got the Lions back within two with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game. Rodriguez took his right-footed corner kick from the left corner and curled it under the crossbar and in for his second goal of the year.

The Lions put two shots on target late in the contest, but both were stopped by Welkley—who finished with six stops.

Quentin Hager had six saves in the opening 77:04 for the Lions. He gave way to Camden Cacolice, who was called upon to make one save in relief.

Bryn Athyn (4-6-0, 1-4-0 NEAC) is off until it faces Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
