Men's tennis upended by Lancaster Bible in NEAC opener 8-1

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's tennis team suffered at 8-1 loss to Lancaster Bible College in its North Eastern Athletic Conference opener on a windy Wednesday afternoon on the Gladish Tennis Courts.

The Lions' No. 1 doubles team of Amit Padmanabhan and Drew Heller earned Bryn Athyn's lone point of the match with a hard-fought 9-7 triumph over Luke Newberry and Derice Butler.

Vojtech Luza and Nikita Smirnov nearly picked up a second doubles point as they went the distance against Evan Holbrook and Ming Bowser at No. 2 doubles, but the Chargers' tandem took the 9-7 win.

Heller and Bowser went to a tiebreak in No. 2 singles as Heller claimed a tight opening set 7-6 (7-5) and Bowser came back to win the second set 6-2. In the tiebreak, Bowser outlasted Heller 10-7.

Bryn Athyn returns to action with a non-conference match at Gwynedd Mercy University on Thursday, April 5 at 3:30 p.m.
