Men’s cross country finishes fifth in Bryn Athyn Cross Country Invitational

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's cross country team put together a fifth-place finish on its home course in the Bryn Athyn Cross Country Invitational Friday afternoon.

Five Lions posted personal-best times as they had a score of 116 points in the seven-team event.

Bryan Martinez led the way for Bryn Athyn as he traversed the 8-kilometer course in a time of 30 minutes, 58.2 seconds, 43 seconds ahead of his previous personal best. Martinez finished 15th in the 45-runner field.

Shane McCurdy crossed the finish line in 20th place with a time of 32:55.3. Tanner Congdon's 25th-place time of 33:30.3 was a personal best by nearly four minutes.

Alex Hyatt made a late push at the finish line to break the 34-minute barrier for the first time in his career by 0.9 seconds. Hyatt's time of 33:59.1 placed him 27th.

The final scoring position went to Gaird Brock after he crossed the line in 34:28.9 to claim 29th.

A late kick in the final 100 feet allowed Mark Strange to make a pass and earn 35th with a time of 39:15.5. Ricky Tran (42:40.3), Justin Rallo (43:09.7), and Andrew Coyle (43.17.1) completed the Bryn Athyn lineup finishing 40th, 41st, and 42nd, respectively.

Bryn Athyn's next race is the Immaculata Invitational on Thursday, Oct. 19.
