BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's cross country team concluded its 2018 season with a fourth-place finish in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship that was held Saturday morning in a very damp Bicentennial Park.
Led by a 24th-place finish from Shane McCurdy, Bryn Athyn totaled 110 points in the five-team field.
McCurdy—the Lions' top runner for the second straight race—completed the soggy 8-kilometer course in a time of 33 minutes, 51.8 seconds, his second-best time at that distance this season.
Tyree Sewell saved his best for last as he posted a personal-best 8K time of 35:40.0 to take 29th overall. Sewell shaved 1.5 seconds off his previous best 8K time—which came at Bicentennial Park on Sept. 14.
Gaird Brock put together a strong race, putting up a season-best time at the 8K distance of 35:40.4 to cross the finish line in 30th. Brock took nearly 40 seconds off of what was his previous best time this year.
Running in his second 8K of the season, Thomas Kozlowski recorded the 35th place time of 37:39.1, a personal best. Malik Jenkins—also running in his second 8K—claimed the final scoring position for Bryn Athyn as he completed the course in 37:40.0 to take 36th.
Justin Rallo rounded out the Lions' lineup by setting a personal-best 8K time of 38:15.2—1:27.2 better than his previous PR—to finish in 38th.
Cairn put runners in the first three positions—including CSAC champion Joel Varughese with a time of 27:25—to post the conference championship winning score of 21 points. Keystone was second with 40 points, while Rosemont took third with 88 points.
