Congdon leads men's cross country in season-opening Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship

PHILADELPHIA – The Bryn Athyn College men's cross country team opened the season at the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship hosted by Jefferson University Saturday morning at Belmont Plateau.

Tanner Congdon was the Lions' top runner in the event as he set a personal best time on the Belmont Plateau 8-kilometer course with a time of 36 minutes, 00.8 seconds. His time placed him 95th in the 121-runner field. Congdon's previous best course time was 36:51.5, which he set during last year's Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship.

Isaac Syre turned in the 105th-place time of 39:07.2. Justin Rallo finished the event in 46:57.0 to end up in 118th.

Led by Kevin Lauer's first-place time of 27:33.8, Rowan University won the team championship.

Bryn Athyn's next race is the Penn State Abington Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Lorimer Park.
