Women's Lacrosse Falls Short Against the Gators

Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College women's lacrosse team fell to College of Notre Dame 16-8 in Wednesday afternoon action. 

Haley Schmucker led the Lions with three goals and one assist. Sierra Asplundh added three goals, five caused turnovers and ten ground balls, while Brettie Pitcairn tallied two goals and six ground balls.

Notre Dame Maryland scored four quick goals to take the lead. Asplundh scored at 23:24 to chip away at the Gator's lead. Another goal at the 16:44 mark gave Notre Dame Maryland a 5-1 lead. Pitcairn answered to bring the Lions within three. The Gators went on a 4-3 run to close out the first half. Bryn Athyn's goals came at 9:26 from Pitcairn, at 8:31 from Schmucker, and at 3:47 from Schmucker. 

Asplundh started off the second half with a goal at 29:39. Notre Dame Maryland tallied two goals to take a 11-6 lead. Schmucker answered at 24:16. The Gators went on a four goal run to take a 15-7 lead. Asplundh scored with 7:12 left, but it wasn't enough as the Gators netted a goal at 5:35 to defeat the Lions 16-8. 

Karla Hyatt recorded five saves in goal for the Lions. 

Bryn Athyn returns to the road Friday, April 11th to face Rosemont. The game is slated for 7:00pm.
