Bryn Athyn, Pa.- The Bryn Athyn College women's lacrosse team fell 12-8 to Bryn Mawr in Thursday afternoon action.
Gross, assisted by Kurtz, got the Lions on the board first at 26:53. Twenty seconds later Bryn Mawr scored to tie the game at 1-1. Less than a minute later Hyatt gave the Lions a 2-1 lead. At 24:34 the Owls tied the game again at 2-2. Schmucker scored back to back goals to give the Lions a 4-2 lead with 16:40 left in the half. Two goals from Bryn Mawr tied the game at 4-4. Asplundh scored at 7:04 to put the Lions on top 5-4. With 2:24 left in the half, the Owls scored to tie the game at 5-5. Schmucker found the back of the net at 2:01 to give the Lions a 6-5 lead going into the second half.
Bryn Mawr came out strong in the second half, scoring five goals to take a 10-6 lead. At 11:15, Hyatt scored to bring the Lions within three. The Owls answered at 9:58 to take a 11-7 lead. Schmucker scored her fourth goal of the afternoon at 3:27 to chip away at Bryn Mawr's lead. The Owls scored again with 10 seconds left in regulation to defeat the Lions 12-8.
Head Coach Spring Silverman expressed, "I'm so proud of the way the team played together in their last game. They had beautiful transitions and connections throughout and it was a true display of their team cohesion and hard work. We had a few unlucky goals that cost us the game, but I'm so proud of the way the team played."
The women's lacrosse team finished their inaugural season with a 5-7 record, going 4-1 at home.
