ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's lacrosse team put together a dominating performance to knock off Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Rosemont College 18-1 and stop the team's brief one-game slide.
Jess Phillipp had a career-day for Bryn Athyn (3-2, 2-1 CSAC) as she racked up four goals and five assists. Rose Glass posted four goals, one assist, and a team-high three caused turnovers; while Payton Gormley scored four times. Bri Lennox posted three goals and a season-high 15 draw controls. Chantal Farmer scored twice and Tina Tu had one goal and one assist.
Goalie Sarah Smith made a career-high seven saves to earn the victory.
Bryn Athyn dominated the opening 30 minutes of play, outshooting Rosemont 23-6, to get out to an 11-0 advantage. Glass and Lennox led the first-half onslaught with three goals each, while Phillipp and Farmer scored twice. In addition to her two goals, Phillipp assisted on four of the 11 first-half goals. Tu also added a goal.
Gormley got into the goal column for the first time 3:02 into the second half to increase the margin to 12. Phillipp tacked on the Lions' 13th goal at the 25:32 mark with an assist from Brittany Gunther. Rosemont finally got on the board with 23:31 when J'Nea Jenkins converted a free-position shot. Gormley took over the Bryn Athyn offense for the next six minutes as she scored the game's next three goals to make it 16-1. Glass and Phillipp both recorded their fourth goal in the final 9:21 of the contest.
Rosemont's Isabel Acosta had 11 saves.
Bryn Athyn returns to General Ronald K. Nelson Field to take on the College of Notre Dame (Md.) on Tuesday, April 2 at 5 p.m
