READING, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team's tremendous season came to an end with a 2-0 loss to Penn State Berks in the semifinal round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon on the Berks Athletic Turf Field.
Bryn Athyn concludes its second season as a varsity sport with an overall record of 9-7-1, a two-win improvement from a season ago. The Lions were in the NEAC Tournament for the first time in program history.
Caitlin Golden, the NEAC player of the year, did all of the damage for the top-seeded Nittany Lions (14-5-1). She opened the scoring 3:07 into the contest with a chip from the edge of the penalty area that made its way over keeper Allie Warren's head and into the net. Golden seals the match with her scoring goal of the afternoon, coming with 7:57 left to play on a loose ball in the Bryn Athyn box.
Despite surrendering the two goals, Warren gave Lions a valiant effort as she stopped 17 Nittany Lion shots. The 17 saves are the second-most Warren has had this season, only behind her 21-save performance against Berks nine days earlier.
Bryn Athyn was outshot 37-0.
