Women's soccer ends 2018 with 2-0 loss to Cairn in CSAC Tournament

LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team's 2018 season came to an end after a 2-0 loss to Cairn University in the opening round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament Monday afternoon.

Bryn Athyn, the tournament sixth seed, finishes the season with a 5-8-2 overall record. Cairn, the three seed, is now 11-4-3 overall and will take on Cedar Crest in the semifinals.

The Highlanders took a 1-0 advantage on a left-footed Sara Hayduchok shot that found the lower right corner at the 32:13 mark. Dakota Hitchner doubled the lead at 41:57 when she played a ball into the box from the left sideline. The ball was supposed to be a cross, however, the wind took hold of the ball and helped it sneak inside the far post for a goal.

Bryn Athyn turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, taking four of its corner kicks during the final 45 minutes. The Lions put one of their three second-half shot attempts on target.

Lion keeper Allie Warren finished the match with one save. Cairn's Mackenzie Paugh stopped three shots. The Highlanders owned an 11-6 shot advantage.

Shelby Puccio had a pair of shots on goal for the Lions, while Ashley Rivera registered one shot on target.
