BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's volleyball team was swept by visiting Gallaudet University 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-11) in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) match Saturday morning in Asplundh Field House.
Bryn Athyn trailed 13-3 in the first set but ran off five of the next six points to climb within six, 14-8. Gallaudet responded with eight straight points to move ahead by a set-high 14 points (22-8).
After falling behind 11-4 in the second set, the Lions scored three consecutive points, the final two on Maddison Foley service aces, to cut the gap to 11-7. The Bison used a 6-0 run to take a double-digit lead, 17-7. The Lions fought back with five points in a row, four on Bison errors and the other on a Cogman kill, to trim the visitor's lead to 17-12. Leading 21-16, Gallaudet closed out the set with four of the final six points.
Gallaudet started the final set with 17 of the first 20 points. Bryn Athyn would get as close as 10 (17-7) by scoring five straight points.
Darriyan Thomas recorded a match-high 11 kills to pace Gallaudet (7-8, 3-1 NEAC). Jasmine Jeter tallied 17 assists, while Kameron Kinast had 11 assists. Adele Daniels and Raelyn Fuechtmann both contributed 10 digs.
Bryn Athyn (1-10, 0-4 NEAC) heads to Penn State-Brandywine for a non-conference match on Monday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
