BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's volleyball season will begin its 2018 season with a home tri-match against Manhattanville College and New Jersey City University in Asplundh Field House on Saturday, Sept. 1. The complete 20-match schedule was announced by second-year head coach Dennis Hibbs Thursday.
The season-opening tri-match is the first of seven home dates for the Lions in 2018. Bryn Athyn's schedule consists of 12 non-conference matches and eight against the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).
After playing in its first of three tri-matches this season, the Lions hit the road for the first time when they visit Penn State Schuylkill on Wednesday, Sept. 5. It will be the first of two matches in which Bryn Athyn will face Penn State Schuylkill as the teams will meet again on Saturday, Sept. 8 in a tri-match at Albright.
Bryn Athyn makes a brief return to Asplundh Field House on Wednesday, Sept. 12 for a showdown with Cheyney before going back on the road for four matches.
The Lions make the short drive to Penn State Abington to square off with their former North Eastern Athletic Conference foe on Friday, Sept. 12. Bryn Athyn has a week off ahead of a busy week which has the Lions heading to King's (PA) on Friday, Sept. 21 and then to Gywnedd Mercy on Saturday, Sept. 22 for a tri-match with Bryn Mawr and the host Griffins.
The team's final non-conference tune-up comes on Tuesday, Sept. 25 against visiting Wesley. CSAC play gets underway just 24 hours later on Wednesday, Sept. 26 when the Lions make their conference debut at Clarks Summit.
Bryn Athyn closes out the month of September with a clash against Cedar Crest on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Asplundh Field House. October has the Lions paying visits to Rosemont on Thursday, Oct. 4 and Centenary (N.J.) on Saturday, Oct. 6 to start the month.
The Lions have back-to-back home dates for the first time in 2018 during Charter Day Weekend. Bryn Athyn faces Cairn on Thursday, Oct. 11 on Dig Pink Night and 2017 CSAC Tournament semifinalist Keystone on Saturday, Oct. 13.
On Thursday, Oct. 18, Bryn Athyn goes on the road to play its final non-conference match of the season at Wilkes.
During the final week of the regular season, the Lions head to the College of Notre Dame (Md.) to face a 2017 CSAC Tournament semifinalist on Wednesday, Oct. 24 and host Wilson on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The Lions bring back six players from the 2017 team that posted a 1-19 record.
