ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team dropped its opening game of the Scotty Wood Tournament, 76-59 to host Muhlenberg College Friday night in Memorial Hall.
Haybert Louchie came off the bench to lead Bryn Athyn (0-3) in scoring with a career-high 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting in 22 minutes of action. Tariq Moore contributed 11 points and a team-high four rebounds. Mike Jones added a career-high nine points, while Anthony Burr had eight points in his season debut.
In the opening half, Muhlenberg (5-0) shot 51.4 percent (18-of-35) from the floor and won the rebounding battle 22-10 to jump out to a 47-23 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Trailing 66-38 with 10 minutes left, the Lions outscored the Mules 21-10 over the duration of the contest. Bryn Athyn shot 7-of-13 from the field during the run, led by all nine of Jones' points and five from Louchie. The Lions shot 52.0 percent (13-of-25) in the final 20 minutes.
Muhlenberg had 11 players get into the scoring column, led by 18 points from Justin Allen. Michael Morreale racked up 12 points, while Nate Henty Brown tallied 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Mules finished the contest with a 49-25 rebounding advantage.
Bryn Athyn will face Purchase College, who fell to Neumann 75-50 in the first game of the tournament, in the consolation game on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. at Muhlenberg.
