HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team began a string of three-straight road games with an 88-50 non-conference loss to Haverford College in Gooding Arena Wednesday night.
Joe Morici returned to the Bryn Athyn lineup after a three-game absence to lead the Lions in scoring with a career-high 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Morici also grabbed a career-best five rebounds.
Bryn Athyn was strong in the early going, getting out to a 12-7 lead with 6:20 gone thanks to an 8-1 run capped off by a Dante Lanzetta offensive rebound and putback. Moore and Taylor both hit 3-pointers during the surge.
The Fords (7-1) then took control of the contest by outscoring the Lions 31-2 over the next 8:32 to move ahead 38-14 with 5:08 left in the first half. Bryn Athyn shot 1-of-9 from the field during that span with the lone points coming on a Moore layup at the 11:35 mark. On the flip side, Haverford made 11 of its 13 attempts, led by 8 of Jonathan Lang's game-high 17 points.
Morici had a strong second half for Bryn Athyn, who shot 41.4 percent (12-of-29) in the half, by going 5-of-7 from the field to score 12 points. Burr connected on a pair of 3-pointers to added eight points.
Dhruv Mehrota added 14 points for Haverford, while Charlie Mamlin drained four 3-pointers to end up with 12 points.
The Fords shot 28-of-59 (47.5 percent) from the field and 14-of-29 (48.3 percent) from behind the 3-point arc. Bryn Athyn made 20 of its 56 shot attempts (35.7 percent).
Bryn Athyn (0-8) travels to the College of Saint Elizabeth for a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m.
