CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team had three players score in double figures in a 79-54 loss to Juniata in the consolation game of the Al Senavitis Memorial Tournament hosted by DeSales University Sunday afternoon.
Haybert Louchie recorded a career-high 17 points to go along with five rebounds in 33 minutes of action. Tariq Moore added another 15 points, two assists, and one rebound. Louchie and Moore did a lot of their damage at the free throw line with Louchie going 6-of-11 and Moore shooting 9-of-13.
Okoye Taylor poured in 11 points.
Juniata (3-7) had four players reach double digits, led by a 19-point effort from Camerom Keck. Marcus Hall contributed 14 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, while Jake Holsopple had 12 points and nine rebounds. Nathan Markey scored 13 points.
Trailing 13-2, Bryn Athyn started to find its stride as the Lions went on a 12-5 surge, capped by consecutive Dante Lanzetta 3-pointers, to close the gap to 18-14 with 11:30 left in the first half. Juniata, who shot 54.5 percent in the contest, made five straight shots to run off 11 straight points in a 2:15 span to push its lead to 29-14 at the 7:03 mark.
With Bryn Athyn back within 10 (30-20), the Eagles closed out the half by outscoring the Lions 10-4 to make the score 40-24 at the half.
Back-to-back 3-pointers by Louchie and Kiaeem Comegys, his first collegiate triple, the Lions cut the Eagle advantage to 46-38 with just over 13 minutes to play. The Lions cut the deficit to eight (49-41) when Louchie went 1-for-2 at the charity stripe at the 11:28 mark. It would be the closest Bryn Athyn would get.
Bryn Athyn (0-13) travels to the University of Valley Forge for its final non-conference game of the season on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 1 p.m.
