Men's basketball tripped up by Wilson

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's basketball team suffered a 72-64 loss to Wilson in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game Tuesday night in Asplundh Field House.

Bryn Athyn had four players score in double figures, led by 16 points from Okoye Taylor. Tariq Moore filled up the box score with 14 points, six rebounds, five assists, and one steal. Anthony Burr poured in 12 points, while Dante Lanzetta came off-the-bench to contribute 11 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.

Taylor broke a 59-all tie by sinking two free throws with 4:40 left to put the Lions in front. He extended the advantage to 63-60 with a 15-foot jumper with 2:56 remaining.

On Wilson's ensuing possession, Rashaan Bean, who scored 15 points, converted an old-fashioned three-point play to tie the score at 63 and start what would be the game-winning 12-1 run. In the final 2:38, Bryn Athyn shot 0-of-5 from the field and committed three turnovers.

Bryn Athyn pulled itself out of an early 8-0 hole by going on a 16-5 surge to take its first lead of the game (16-13) on a Burr 3-pointer at the midpoint of the first half. After two Moore free throws but the Lions back in front 21-20, Wilson ended the half with a 15-3 run to pull ahead 35-24 at the break.

Trailing by a game-high 13 points, Bryn Athyn chipped away at Wilson's lead until a Kiaeem Comegys fast-break slam dunk brought the Lions all the way back to go back in front 48-47.

Adrian Thomas had 23 points and 13 rebounds, both game highs, to lead Wilson (5-9, 2-3 CSAC). Zachary Powell added 18 points and seven rebounds.

Bryn Athyn was the better shooting team during live action, 43.1 percent (22-of-51) to 38.1 percent (24-of-63), but Wilson owned the advantage at the free throw line, 81.8 percent (18-of-22) to 57.9 percent (11-of-19).

Bryn Athyn (1-14, 0-4 CSAC) welcomes Cairn to Asplundh Field House on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 8 p.m.
