BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey head coach Andrew Burke has announced the Lions' 2018-19 schedule on Wednesday. The schedule consists of 24 games, nine in Junge Pavilion, and including a game against the 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament runner-up.
The campaign, the Lions' second in Division III, beings on the weekend of Oct. 26-27 at the Buffalo State Bengals Classic. Bryn Athyn will take on the host Bengals in the opening contest on Friday and then take on either Curry or Nazareth the following day.
The Lions will get to take the ice in front of the home crowd for the first time one week later on Nov. 2-3 when Bryn Athyn hosts Division II Southern New Hampshire University.
Then, Bryn Athyn spends the rest of November on the road to take on Fredonia on Nov. 9, Nazareth on Nov. 10, King's (PA) on Nov. 17, and compete in the Skidmore Thanksgiving Tournament in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Nov. 24-25. Bryn Athyn opens the Skidmore Thanksgiving Tournament with NCAA Division III Tournament runner-up Salve Regina, who lost to national champion St. Norbert in double overtime, and then will face either host Skidmore or Division II Post.
Bryn Athyn starts the month of December with three contests against first-year program Anna Maria. The first two games of the three-game series are set to be held in Junge Pavilion on Dec. 1-2. After a 12-day layoff, Bryn Athyn and Anna Maria will complete the set on Dec. 14 at Anna Maria.
The 2018 portion of the schedule ends with visits to Morrisville State on Dec. 15 and Wilkes on Dec. 19.
Bryn Athyn begins 2019 up in Boston to take part in the 54th Annual Codfish Bowl Tournament hosted by UMass-Boston on Jan. 4-5. The Lions are slated to take on SUNY Cortland on the 4th and then either UMass-Boston or Tufts on the 5th.
The string of road games comes to a close on Jan. 12-13 with a trip to Curry College.
The Lions make their return to Junge Pavilion for three consecutive home contests, beginning the weekend of Jan. 25-26 against SUNY Canton. The season-long three-game homestand concludes on Feb. 2 against Wilkes.
After going on the road for the final time on Feb. 9 at Lebanon Valley, Bryn Athyn wraps up the 2018-19 season in Junge Pavilion against Division II Stonehill on Feb. 15-16.
In its first season as a NCAA Division III program, the Lions posted a 9-12-1 overall record.
