MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team suffered a 6-3 loss to Morrisville State Saturday afternoon in the Morrisville Iceplex.
Tanner Congon wrapped up a strong offensive weekend with another two-goal contest, giving him four in the Lions' two games. Jimmy Pollock added his second goal of the year.
Morrisville State (3-9-1) opened the scoring at the 6:28 mark of the first period when Nick DeVito recorded a power-play goal with assists from CJ Stubbs and Aidan Conolly.
Dane Moore doubled the advantage to 2-0 when he scored the first of three second-period Mustang goals at 5:48. Congdon brought the Lions (4-9-0) within 2-1 when he scored the first of his two goals, with assists from Jake Heckenberger and Devon Becker, at 13:33. Then, the Mustangs scored two quick goals, the first by Ben Sprague at 16:55 on the power play and the second by Stubbs 1:24 later, to lead 4-1 after two.
The Mustangs and Lions went back-and-forth trading goals in the final period. Sprague tallied the first goal of the third 1:40 in to give Morrisville State a 5-1 lead. Pollack answered right back for Bryn Athyn at 2:58 to make a three-goal game once again. Alex Tan and Julion Lever earned assists on the play.
With 2:11 left in the contest, Jesse Anderson recorded the Mustangs' sixth goal on the power play. Congdon capped off his solid weekend with his team-leading fifth goal of the season at 19:47. It was a short-handed goal
Jared Young was the winning goaltender after recorded 21 saves on 24 shots. In his first collegiate start, the Lions' Aidan Quaglino stopped 12 of the 18 shots on goal he faced.
The Mustangs were 3-for-5 on the power play, while the Lions were 0-for-5.
Bryn Athyn closes out the 2018 portion of its schedule when it heads to Wilkes on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 7:15 p.m.
