FOXBORO, Mass. – Seven different Lions found the back of the net for the Bryn Athyn College men's ice hockey team in an 8-5 road victory over Stonehill College in the Foxboro Sports Center Saturday night.
Cameron Shorrock (2 goals, 1 assist), Tanner Congdon (1 g, 2 a), Zach Pamaylaon (1 g, 2 a), and Vojtech Luza (3 a) all had three-point nights for the Lions (4-2-1). Peter Falivena, Devon Becker, and Connor Devereux each notched a goal and an assist. Jake Heckenberger added a goal. Dakota Ulmer had two assists, while Julion Lever had one assist.
After Stonehill (1-5-1) took a 1-0 lead on a Mike Seoane goal, Bryn Athyn went on a five-minute power play at the 5:26 mark when Ryan Meade was given a major penalty and a game misconduct for contact to the head during on open-ice hit on a Bryn Athyn player.
The Bryn Athyn power play—that entered the game 3-for-27 on the season—made Stonehill pay as the Lions scored three times during the five minutes to take a 3-1 lead. Heckenberger's second goal of the season tied the score at one 29 seconds into the man-advantage with assists from Luza and Ulmer. Congdon put Bryn Athyn in front at 8:54 with a shot from the right circle for his second goal of the year. Becker and Pamaylaon each notched an assist. Then, Becker got into the scoring column 47 seconds later by scoring his fourth goal to double the lead to 3-1. The goal was assisted by Congdon and Shorrock.
Bryn Athyn's special teams struck again in the second period to increase the gap to 4-1. This time it would be the penalty-killing unit coming through as Shorrock scored his first goal of the night at the 9:03 mark. Lever was credited with an assist.
Stonehill came back to close the gap to 4-3 with back-to-back goals from Cameron Wright and Charles Page at 10:01 and 14:10, respectively.
Pamaylaon restored Bryn Athyn's two-goal advantage, scoring with six seconds left in the period. Pamaylaon's third goal of the year had assists from Luza and Devereux.
With the Lion lead down to 5-4 after a Jared McCracken goal, Devereux and Falivena both tallied their first goals of the year to extend the lead to 7-4. Luza assisted on Devereux's goal at 11:08. Falivena's first collegiate goal came on the power play at 12:58 and was assisted by Congdon and Pamaylaon.
Wright scored a power-play goal for Stonehill and Shorrock tacked on an empty-net goal for the Lions in the final minute.
Bryn Athyn goaltender McKenzie Chalmers improved to 3-1-1 this season after a 30-save performance. Chase McKay played the first two periods in goal for Stonehill and stopped 23 of the 28 shots he faced. Matthew Schoen made five saves on seven shots in the final period.
Bryn Athyn heads to Waterbury, Conn. to close out its season-opening stretch of eight straight road games at Post on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 3:45 p.m.
