Smith scores first collegiate goal in road loss to DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 non-conference loss to host DeSales University Saturday afternoon.

Christian Smith scored the Bryn Athyn goal on a penalty kick at the 69:57 mark. It was his first collegiate goal.

DeSales took just 4:25 to get on the scoreboard thanks to a Keegan Coffield goal with an assist fro Kevin Kile. Bryn Athyn keeper DJ Eldridge would make five saves after allowing the quick goal to keep the Lions within one.

The Bulldogs (3-3-0) extended the lead to 4-0 with three goals in a 10:19 span. The first goal came at 52:50 from Ian Patmore and was followed up six minutes later by an Anthony Contreras goal. Dimeji Oyinkolade put DeSales' fourth goal on the board at 63:09.

Eldridge finished the match with eight saves for Bryn Athyn. DeSales' Nathan Hatzfield stopped four shots.

Bryn Athyn (0-5-0) hosts Moravian on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
