Campbell goes for career-high 24 in loss to Gallaudet

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Jayda Campbell scored a career-high 24 points for the Bryn Athyn College women's basketball team in a 76-64 non-conference loss to Gallaudet in Asplundh Field House Monday night.

Campbell, who surpassed her previous career-best of 21 points set nine days ago, shot 8-of-18 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free-throw line in 36 minutes of action. She also had five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Treasure Baskerville came off the bench to contribute a career-high 13 points, including 3-of-4 shooting from 3-point range. Eleven of Baskerville's 13 points came in the final quarter.

As a team, Bryn Athyn (2-8) made seven 3-pointers and blocked five shots, both season highs. Clayshonia Cogmon had three blocked shots, while Alexis Mitchem recorded the other two.

Gallaudet (2-6) led the game from wire-to-wire, thanks to a 9-2 run in the opening 4:25 to start the game. The Bison led by a game-high 23 points (50-27) with 4:59 left in the third quarter on three Sunita Schmidjorg free throws.

Bryn Athyn stormed back into the contest by doubling up Gallaudet 34-17, including 10 straight points, to close with 67-61 on a Baskerville triple with 1:28 remaining in the game. Five different Lions got into the scoring act during the run, led by Baskerville and Campbell who had 13 and 11 points, respectively.  The Lions shot 12-of-23 (52.2 percent).

Galludet would hold on to the win by hitting six straight free throws to reclaim a 12-point cushion (73-61) with 30 seconds on the clock.

Kendall Hudson was Gallaudet's leading scorer with 20 points and also grabbed eight rebounds. Schmidjorg had 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals, while Emelia Barton scored 13 points. Cassidy Perry racked up 12 points and 10 boards.

Bryn Athyn closes out the calendar year with a non-conference game at Immaculata on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m.
