BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Bryn Athyn College women's lacrosse head coach Denise Roessler has been selected as the new head coach of the German National Women's Lacrosse team by the German Lacrosse Association.
Roessler has been with the German National team since 2016 when the joined the coaching staff as an assistant. In the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse Women's Lacrosse World Cup in England, Germany finished in 14th place with a 5-3 record. Germany posted a sixth-place finish at the 2019 European Championship held in Netanya, Israel.
She will enter her sixth year as the head coach at Bryn Athyn in 2020. Last season, Bryn Athyn posted an 8-5 overall record and reached the semifinal round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament. Nine Lions earned a place on the All-CSAC team. In Roessler's first five seasons at Bryn Athyn, the Lions have a 31-31 record and made the postseason each of the last two years.
Before coming to Bryn Athyn, Roessler had a 16-year run as the head coach at Division I Saint Joseph's University. During her time on Hawk Hill, Roessler led the Hawks to 89 victories and two Atlantic-10 Tournament appearances—including a trip to the 2009 A-10 Tournament final. Roessler was the league's coach of the year in 2009.
Roessler earned her first head-coaching job in 1998 at La Salle University.
