ROSEMONT, Pa. – The nine head women's soccer coaches of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) voted the Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team third in their annual preseason poll that was released by the CSAC office on Friday.
Bryn Athyn, who garnered 54 points in the poll, brings back 11 players from the record-setting 2017 team that put together a 9-7-1 campaign and reached the semifinal of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament for the first time in program history.
Leading the list of returnees is All-NEAC second-team selection, Shelby Puccio. Puccio finished tied for second in the conference with 20 goals and was deadlocked for fourth with 42 points, both program records.
Senior Rose Glass ended 2017 second on the Lions with eight goals and third with 18 points. Junior Allie Warren was second in the NEAC with a .859 save percentage, fifth with 146 saves, and sixth with a 1.39 goals against average.
Centenary claimed the top spot in the preseason coaches poll after picking up seven first-place votes and 73 points. Keystone earned one first-place vote and 69 points to occupy the second spot.
Rosemont was fourth with 50 points, while Cedar Crest was tabbed fifth with 49 points. Cairn ended up in sixth with 40 points. The College of Notre Dame racked up 33 points to end up in seventh. Wilson recorded the final first-place vote and 21 points to claim eighth. Clarks Summit rounded out the poll in ninth with 16 points.
Bryn Athyn opens the 2018 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 with a road contest against Lancaster Bible at 1 p.m.
