Dominant first half leads Lions to 4-1 victory at Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. – The Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team scored three times in the opening 45 minutes and used that momentum to pick up their first win of the season, 4-1 over host Old Wetsbury Saturday afternoon.

Shelby Puccio opened the scoring with a breakaway goal at the 13:42 of the first half. Ashley Rivera started the play with a through ball that broke Puccio free from the Panther backline. Puccio did the rest as she scored her second goal of the season.

Bryn Athyn (1-0-1) needed just 74 seconds to double its advantage thanks to the first of two Tori Titano goals. Titano pounced on a loose ball in the Panther penalty area and slammed it past Alexa Huggins.

The lead remained 2-0 until the 41:33 mark when Rivera got into the scoring column with a breakaway goal, her second goal of the season.

Titano's team-leading third goal of 2018 widened the gap to 4-0 at 57:22. Rivera capped off a four-point afternoon by finding Titano in the box with a cross to pick up an assist

The Lions' hopes for a shutout were dashed with 21 minutes as an own goal by the Panthers (0-3-0) on the board.

Allie Warren made five saves for Bryn Athyn to earn the victory, while Higgins stopped seven in a losing effort. The Lions outshout the Panthers 17-10.

Bryn Athyn is back in action on Monday, Sept. 10 at Immaculata for a 4 p.m. start.
