BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's soccer team was defeated 3-0 by visiting Gwynedd Mercy University in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
The Griffins' Amanda Credidio gave Gwynedd Mercy (2-5-1) a 2-0 lead with two goals in the opening 20 minutes of the first half.
Her first goal came at 7:26 on a breakaway after she was sprung free from the Bryn Athyn backline thanks to a Megan Crammer pass. At the 19:50 mark, Credidio dribbled around a group of Lion defenders at the left corner of the penalty area and shot the ball into an open goal as Bryn Athyn goalie Allie Warren came out to try and cut down the shooting angle.
Bryn Athyn (1-3-1) came out and dominated the first 20 minutes, controlling the possession in the attacking end and putting four of its six shot attempts on target. However, none of the shots on goal found their way by Emily McCullough.
Then, at 72:38, Gwynedd Mercy put the game away at Genny Lombardo lofted a shot from the right corner of the penalty area into the upper left corner of the goal to make the score 3-0. Credidio picked up an assist to finish the game with five points.
