Daum earns All-NEAC third team recognition at NEAC Individual Championship Tournament

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – Marie Daum became the first women's tennis player in Bryn Athyn College history to earn All-North Eastern Athletic Conference honors after coming in third place at No. 2 singles in the NEAC Individual Championship Tournament Friday at the Birchwood Tennis Center.

Daum—who entered the tournament as the fourth seed—opened play with a 6-0, 6-1 loss to top seed Caroline Bashore from Penn State Berks. She bounced back in the consolation match to edge out Lancaster Bible's Lynndath Thelemaque 8-6 to take home all-conference recognition.

Daum ended the season with a team-high four singles victories.

Morgan Phillips, Alair Brock, and Ashley Walsh also represented Bryn Athyn in the tournament.

Phillips played at No. 1 singles and was defeated in the first round by Lancaster Bible's Greta Strunk—the NEAC Player of the Year—6-1, 6-2 and by Penn State Abington's Stephanie Jin 8-3 in the consolation match.

Brock took part in the No. 5 singles portion of the tournament. She was upended up Haylee Fishel from Lancaster Bible 6-2, 6-3 during the opening round. In the consolation match, Brock suffered an 8-2 loss to Penn State Abington.

Smith was in the No. 6 bracket as the number three seed. In her first round match, Smith was knocked off by Penn State Abington's Isabella Blackwell 6-0, 6-0. Smith ended her tournament with an 8-1 loss to Lancaster Bible's Lydia Dice.
