Lions knock off Clarks Summit, 5-4, in CSAC play

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's tennis team picked up a 6-3 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) victory over Clarks Summit University on the Gladish Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon.

Bryn Athyn improves to 2-5 overall and 2-1 in the CSAC with the win, while Clarks Summit falls to 2-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

The Lions jumped out to a 2-1 lead thanks to the top of the doubles lineup. Marie Daum and Nora Connelly cruised in their No. 1 match against Veronica Hernandez and Natalie Tuffy, picking up an 8-0 victory. Alair Brock and Maia Wyncoll had a little bit of a tougher time at No. 2 doubles, but still defeated the tandem of Hannah Knapp and Lauren Fadale, 8-4.

In singles play, Bryn Athyn was able to prevail thanks to the middle of its lineup. Connelly recorded her second win of the year thanks to a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Knapp at No. 2 singles. Christine Daum was a 6-4, 6-1 victor over Rebecca Maholic in the No. 3 singles match to earn her team-leading third victory. Brock now has two wins this season after she got past Fadale, 6-0, 6-1.

Bryn Athyn travels to Cedar Crest for a CSAC match on Friday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m.
