Women’s volleyball voted ninth in CSAC preseason coaches poll

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's volleyball team is ninth in the 2018 Colonial States Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll announced by the CSAC office on Wednesday. The poll was voted on by the nine women's volleyball head coaches in the CSAC.

Bryn Athyn returns six players from the 2017 squad that went 1-19. Junior Hannah Dewees paced the Lions in kills a season ago with a career-high 144 and was second with 144 digs. Junior Alexis Juritsch led the defensive effort as she racked up a team-high 213 digs and pitched in on offense with 86 kills, which was second. Senior Amber Wood had 252 assists and 25 service aces, both team highs, and 126 digs.

The Lions earned 22 points in the preseason poll.

Keystone topped the poll with seven of the nine first-place votes and 79 points. The College of Notre Dame ended up in second as the Gators picked up the final two first-place votes and totaled 72 points. Cedar Crest was third with 64 points. Clarks Summit had 45 points to barely edge out Cairn, who had 44 points, for fourth place.

Rosemont was sixth overall with 30 points. Centenary was tabbed seventh with 25 points, while Wilson's 24 points placed the Phoenix in eighth.

Bryn Athyn begins the 2018 season with a home tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 1 against Manhattanville College at 11 a.m. and New Jersey City University at 3 p.m. in Asplundh Field House.
