ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-20, 25-13,25-23) Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) loss to host Cedar Crest Saturday afternoon in Lees Gymnasium.
Hannah Dewees led Bryn Athyn (5-13, 3-3 CSAC) with a match-high 12 kills and a team-best seven digs, while Briana Cliney added eight kills while hitting .353. Jenessa Lombardi racked up 21 assists and tied Dewees with seven digs.
In the second set, Cedar Crest recorded 13 kills and just one error, while Bryn Athyn had 11 kills and seven attack errors. Trailing 10-2, Bryn Athyn had five kills—two from Lombardi—during a 5-2 surge to close the gap to 12-7. Cedar Crest came right back with six consecutive points to extend the gap to double figures for the first time in the set (18-7).
Bryn Athyn broke a 6-6 tie in the third set with four points to a row, two on Chloe Levan aces, to open up a 10-6 advantage. The Lions held the lead until the Falcons went on a 5-1 run to move ahead 18-16. After Bryn Athyn fought back to tie the set at 23—the 12th tie of the set—on a Cliney kill, Cedar Crest claimed the final two points to win the match.
Britney Rivera and Kayla Yasso paced Cedar Crest with 10 kills. Madison Flatt contributed 32 assists and Tiffany Hoppes added 12 digs.
Bryn Athyn hosts the College of Saint Elizabeth in its final regular season home match of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. in Asplundh Field House. In addition to the match being Senior Night, the Lions will also hold their annual Dig Pink match.
