Women's cross country takes 13th in Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship

PHILADELPHIA – Led by a 45th-place finish by Natalie Daum, the Bryn Athyn College women's cross country team took 13th at the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championship Saturday afternoon at Belmont Plateau.

Daum completed the Plateau's challenging 5-kilometer course in a time of 23 minutes, 24.6 seconds. She is Bryn Athyn's top runner for the third straight race.

Morgan Flynn posted a personal-best 5K of time of 25:09.3, 57 seconds better than her previous best to come in 70th place. Alair Brock bested her previous top 5K time by nearly five minutes as he posted the 78th-place time of 25:30.0. Lianhua Lenihan shaved 12 seconds off of her personal best by running the course in 25:43.6 to come home 83rd.

Sierra Heinrichs, Alexis Mitchem, and Alma Klas all made their Bryn Athyn debuts on Saturday. Heinrichs claimed the Lions' final scoring spot with the 110th-place time of 36:26.7. Mitchem came in 111st with a time of 36.33.9, while Klas had a time of 39:27.2 to end up in 112th.

Bryn Athyn had a team score of 342 points in a 16-team field dominated by Division II schools. The Lions were third among the five Division III teams in the race.

Chestnut Hill's Taylor Neals won the race with a time of 20:50.7.

The Lions' next event is the Cedar Crest Open on Friday, Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m. in Allentown, Pa.
