Box Score Doylestown, PA - The Bryn Athyn Lions fell today to the Delaware Valley College Aggies, 5-0 on a wet and rainy afternoon in which the final score failed to reflect the actual balance of the game.
The Lions defense held strong for the majority of the first half, and it was only due to an unlucky bounce inside the 18 that Delaware Valley was able to poke it past keeper Johnny Walker. Two more goals followed, both which might have been prevented were it not for the extremely slippery conditions that made it tough for Walker to get a real hold of the ball. The Lions toughed it out and looked for opportunities to exploit the Aggie's high defensive line on the counter, and nearly did so twice, with Alexander Pafford playing in Philip Gyasi both times on the wing. Gyasi's first cross met Santiago Tabares who forced a save from the Delaware keeper, and the second was played out for a corner.
In the second half Delaware grabbed an early fourth goal, but were unable to put many more shots on target until a hard strike from outside the box was well saved by Walker, only for the ball to deflect off a Delaware player for their fifth and final goal. Blake McCurdy had a shot from the inside of the box saved for a corner, but it was too little too late for the visiting Lions, who play their last away game of the season on Sunday against Berkeley College of New Jersey. The game is set for 2:00pm.
