Men's Soccer Falls to Williamson, 2-1

Media, PA- The Bryn Athyn Lions fell tonight to Williamson Free Trade School, 2-1 in a hard fought match on tough field conditions.

The Lions enjoyed the majority of the possession and chances in both the first and second halves, but two goals from Williamson in the second proved too much to overcome. Bryn Athyn started out strongly, with Slava Tikhonov attempting some speculative outside the box shots. Alexander Pafford later beat his man on the wing and nearly fizzed it across the face of goal for a waiting Blake McCurdy, only for the Williamson goalie to pounce on it at the final second.

The second half produced even more chances for the Lions, as Greg Synnestvedt ripped a shot that was destined for the far right side only for the Williamson keeper to make a fine save. Nelson Lopez took the resulting corner, and his cross was well met by the head of McCurdy, who just missed the far left corner. Zack Odhner then had a chance to shoot but hit it over the bar. Soon after Santiago Tabares took a ball from McCurdy on the right wing and crossed it low to Odhner, who dribbled a few steps then ripped a shot opposite corner that left the Williamson keeper clutching at air. The Lions were only able to enjoy their lead for about a minute, before Williamson responded with a goal on the counter attack. Pafford found McCurdy on a long ball that the keeper saved, then a mix up in the Lions box helped Williamson grab the winner. The Lions poured on the pressure in the final minutes and Ben Useche was played through by Pafford only to see his shot saved.

The Lions next game is away on Thursday at Delaware Valley.  The game is slated for 4:00pm.
