Box Score Dover, De. - The Bryn Athyn College men's soccer team fell to Wesley College 8-0 in Saturday afternoon action.
Bryn Athyn fought bravely in the first half but were taken off guard by Wesley's reliance on quick passing and through balls to the wingers that took advantage of Bryn Athyn's high defensive line. Five quality goals were scored on the visitors in that torrid first half, but morale remained high at halftime as the players accepted that today was perhaps not their day, especially against a championship caliber team such as Wesley.
That being the case, self-improvement became the main objective. Though three more goals were scored by Wesley amidst almost constant pressure in the second half, the hustle, consistency and commitment shown by a defense led by Ian Crowther and Mike Redondo gave hope that against more realistic opposition success will come. Indeed, were it not for their constant effort and some sharp saves from goalkeeper Johnny Walker, the score would undoubtedly have been worse. With further practice results will definitely improve.
Walker made 13 saves in goal for the Lions.
Bryn Athyn will host Williamson on Thursday afternoon. The game is slated for 4:00 pm.
