Box Score Reading, PA - Men's Soccer traveled to take on PSU Berks in NEAC action and lose in overtime 3-2.
In a first half that saw both teams accumulate 5 shots and 2 corner kicks. PSU Berks was able to open up the scoring in the 38th minute off a rebound after a big save by the Lions keeper Damilare Adeleye, who made 2 other saves in the first half. The half ended with PSU Berks leading 1-0.
The second half saw PSU Berks extend their lead 2-0 in the 51st minute with a blast from Omar Guzman going over Damilare Adeleye fully extended body. The Lions were able to win a penalty kick in the 64th minute, which Siafa Dempster buried and cut PSU Berks lead in half. Then only 6 minutes later the Lions were able to knot up the score, when Mateus Souza was able to knock in a rebound from a Siafa Dempster corner kick.
As both teams battled and created opportunities to take the lead, neither team was able to find the back of the net to break the tie, taking the game into overtime.
PSU Berks was able to net the game winner only 1 minute into the overtime period giving them the 3-2 NEAC win.
The loss puts the Lions 7-7-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the NEAC.
The Lions will be back in action next Saturday when they host Wells at 2:00 pm in conference play.
