Box Score BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Led by two-goal efforts from Zachary Brock and Edgar Rodriguez, the Bryn Athyn College men's soccer team scored a season-high six goals as the Lions defeated the College of Saint Elizabeth, 6-1, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) match Wednesday afternoon on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
Brock got the Lions (5-7-0, 2-5-0 NEAC) out to a 2-0 advantage 19 minutes into the match. On the match's opening goal, Brock headed in a rebound after Martin Dempster rang a shot off the crossbar at the 11:15 mark. Seven minutes later, Dempster found Brock with a pass to the left wing. Brock shot the ball back across the goal mouth and had it sneak inside the right post.
Peter Comas extended the lead to three with 4:51 left in the half on a leaping-header 8 yards from the goal. Jacob Elder lofted the ball into the box for an open Comas from 40 yards away.
Rodriguez put his name in the goal column for the first time just 50 seconds into the second half. Matheus Souza passed the ball from the top of the penalty area to Rodriguez. Rodriguez quickly fired off that shot that keeper Jason Pineda got his hands on, but the ball spun back and trickled over the goal line.
The lead grew to five at the 48:40 mark as the Lions took advantage of an Eagle defensive turnover. Souza stole a pass out of the back and fed David Camara who deposited the ball into the left side of the Eagle net.
The College of Saint Elizabeth pulled one back at 53:10 on a Raul Galindo Rojas unassisted goal from 12 yards away.
Rodriguez restored the five-goal advantage just over four minutes later as he stepped around an Eagle defender and delivered a left-footed shot into the upper-left corner of the net.
Quentin Hager earned the victory in goal with three saves. Pineda recorded 10 stops for the Eagles (0-12-1, 0-6-0 NEAC). The Lions took a season-high 42 shots while holding the Eagles to nine.
