Boler, Lennox propel field hockey to first win in program history

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Payton Boler and Bri Lennox each had three goals and one assist as the Bryn Athyn College field hockey team picked up its first victory in program history, 10-0 over Notre Dame (Md.) in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.

After a scoreless opening 14 minutes, Chantal Farmer broke the scoreless deadlock with her first career goal. Sabrina Colbridge found Farmer with a centering pass in front of the net and Farmer slammed the pass by Calenna Cauley.

Just over 2:30 later, Lennox scored the first of her three goals at 16:46 after a great display of passing by the Lions (1-4). Jaclyn Martin started the play from outside the arc with a pass to Brittany Gunther in the middle of the arc. Gunther one-timed a pass to Lennox at the right post for an easy tip-in.

Boler closed out the first-half scoring with back-to-back goals to make the score 4-0. Her first goal came at 22:26 on a sharp-angle shot at the left post. She scored again at the 25:15 mark on a penalty stroke. Boler completed her hat-trick just 42 seconds into the second half after receiving a feed from Jaclyn Martin at the left post.  

Lennox executed a perfect backhand sweep in the middle of the arc to score for the second time and make the score 6-0. Gunther tacked of the seventh at 40:53, while Martin converted a penalty corner for the eighth goal at the 53:30 mark.

Lennox finished off her hat trick at 52:20 after putting home a cross at the left post from Imanni Reeves.

In her first collegiate match, Sarah Reed scored her first career goal with 9:08 remaining to put Bryn Athyn in double figures.

Macey Mitchell and Anja Weisser combined for the program's first shutout. Mitchell was called upon to make one save, while Weisser didn't face a shot.

Cauley finished with 23 saves for the Gators (1-4)

Bryn Athyn heads to DeSales for a non-conference match on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m.
