Lions topped by The King's College in non-conference clash

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – The Bryn Athyn College men's soccer team suffered a 6-0 non-conference home loss to The King's College (N.Y.) Friday night on General Ronald K. Nelson Field.

Bryn Athyn goalkeeper Shane McCurdy turned in a strong performance in net despite the result as he stopped a career-high 11 shots, six in the first half and five more in the second.

Josiah Simons opened the scoring just 4:41 into the match as he scored front in close after receiving a centering pass from Michel Wenzel. The King's College (8-2-0) extended the lead to three at the 26:49 mark thanks to a pair of goals 2:14 apart. Spencer Smith scored an unassisted goal with a left-footed chip from just outside the penalty area and was followed up by the first of two Edvin Loefgren goals.

Loefgren capped his two-goal evening by scoring the first goal of the second half at 48:50 as he slotted home a Wenzel centering pass. Isaiah Williams recorded the fifth goal at the 53:59 mark with a shot from the left wing that snuck inside the upper right corner of the net. Tom Champlain closed out the scoring with a breakaway goal.

The King's College's Benjamin Borchelt stopped one shot.

Bryn Athyn (2-8-0) travels to Albright for a non-conference tilt on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
